Approach to Treatment

I do not believe in one-size-fits-all therapy—and you will rarely find me simply handing you a generic worksheet. Instead, our work is dynamic, collaborative, and tailored to your particular history, personality, and goals.

My approach is integrative and process-based. Rather than applying one therapeutic model to every person, I draw from several evidence-informed approaches to help you understand yourself more deeply, develop practical skills, and create meaningful change in your life.

Our work may move across four interconnected dimensions:

Deep Roots

Psychodynamic and Existential Therapy

We explore your history, upbringing, relationships, and early attachments to understand how you became who you are—and how patterns from the past may still shape your life today. We may also examine larger questions of meaning, identity, purpose, responsibility, and the values you want to live by moving forward.

Present Awareness

DBT-Informed Therapy and Mindfulness

We may work on practical ways to recognize and regulate emotions, tolerate distress, communicate more effectively, and respond thoughtfully rather than react automatically. Mindfulness helps us slow down, become more aware of what is happening internally, and create space for new choices.

Mindset Shifts

CBT, REBT, and ACT

We examine how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another. At times, I may compassionately challenge beliefs that are rigid, self-defeating, or unsupported by the evidence. At other times, our work may involve changing your relationship with painful thoughts rather than attempting to eliminate them—while taking action that reflects your values.

Active Embodiment

Experiential and Performing Arts Methods

Drawing on my background in psychology, psychodrama, and the performing arts, I may incorporate experiential methods such as empty-chair work, guided dialogue, behavioral rehearsal, and immersive role-play.

Rather than only discussing how you would like to respond differently, we can practice it together—helping insight become something you can feel, express, and carry into your life outside the therapy room.

Humor, Silence, and Humanity

Deep therapeutic work can hold the full spectrum of human experience.

Humor can help loosen the grip of shame, perfectionism, and irrational beliefs. When used thoughtfully, it creates perspective and allows us to connect through our shared humanity.

Silence can be equally important. I am comfortable allowing quiet moments so that you have time to reflect, feel, and listen to what may be emerging internally—without rushing to fill the space.

The goal is not simply to understand your life intellectually. It is to help you experience yourself differently and develop greater freedom in how you choose to live.
